It really doesn’t matter if you have a large or small closet, organization is the key to a happy mind. Since you likely use your closet every day, each time you walk in there, it should feel like a deep breath, not like you have to hold your breath. For some people, this is a literal depiction of their closet because they keep their hamper or laundry basket in there. For others, it is simply a metaphor for how cramped and unorganized that space feels. This can disrupt your morning routine and get you flustered for the day.
What should you do to keep your closet organized? One of the first things you should do is to create some type of system or order. In other words, it could be by season, color, styles, etc. There is not only one system that will work for everyone. You just need to pick one and go with it. Once you do this, then you can shop for the closet organization products and specialty products and storage boxes that can help you to put the physical items in their places.
You see, organization is a state of mind as much as it is a state of having physical items placed in the right areas of one’s home or office. You’ve probably heard of ancient principles like Feng Shui that have to do with proper placement of items within a space and for organization. This is an ancient Asian art, so you shouldn’t feel like your messy closet is anything new. Not that Feng Shui was made to organize a closet, but it is a sign that there are more things at work that can help us energetically feel organized as well.
Remember that it doesn’t really matter the size of your closet so much as it matters what you have in it. If you have a bunch of items or boxes that are taking up precious space, then you need closet organization more than anyone. Even if you had a closet twice the size, you would just end up filling that one with useless items as well. Better to change your mindset and behavior around how you organize your spaces so that organizing your closet just comes as a natural trait. You can always buy ‘stuff’ to help you keep things in its proper place.
