So, you are a very clean person, with everything organized neatly. Your children, however, have closets filled with garbage stacked to the ceiling, food on the floor,
ancient clothing and garments, and laden with other hazardous debris. What can you do to remediate the problem, then? Well, below are some simple, yet effective ways to clean out and organize your child’s closet, along with some other great tips and closet organization ideas, to make it gleam as the rest of your house already does.
1) First, review everything in the closet, deciding what will stay and what will go. Next, take everything out of the closet, sorting through everything and establishing what will be discarded.
2) Make use of all shelves and hangers. The highest shelves should be utilized for out-of-season attire and hand-me-downs. Store these items in boxes labeled correctly by means of post-it-notes.
3) Grab a tub or cardboard box, which will be used for storing items that you are going to toss or donate to the needy.
4) Pair matching items and store them together on the hangers.
5) For a dirty clothes hamper, use a tall garbage can and place it on the floor next to their bedroom closet. Children are more apt to use these items when they are close to where they undress and get dressed.
6) If the child has any toys, collectibles, or stuffed animals in the closet, place a medium-sized basket inside of his closet. Fill it as appropriate, and if there is not enough room in the basket for everything, take the rest and store them in a tub.
7) Put in a hanging accessory bag with as many shelves as possible; this invention will hold the dresses that children will wear in the coming week. Label the shelf for each weekday.
Contemplate purchasing a shoe bag for smaller toys (e.g., army men and dolls) and stuffed animals, and other kids closet organizers.
9) If the child has wire shelves, consider using heavy plastic liners on the shelves so that collectibles and souvenirs will not fall off of these shelves.
10) Enjoy your child’s sparkling closet, you can go wild with your closet organizing ideas, make the bins and tubs you use fun colors that coordinate with your child’s bedroom décor! Even hangers are sold in colors that are sure to match the room. The closet organization ideas are endless. With a little creativity and some work, the closet will be a tidy place in no time!
