Do you find that you never seem to know where anything is or you just don’t have enough space to store things away in their rightful location? If so, then maybe it is time to plan out some new closets in your home. We’re not talking about physically building additional closets in any spare space you have, but instead we are talking about redesigning the closets you have in a new way so that they are more organized, can fit more stuff and can give you the opportunity to be a more organized – and a more sane – person.
When it comes to deciding how to revamp your closets, the first thing you need to do is to assess the state of your current closets and brainstorm on closet organization ideas. What do you like about the closets in your home? What don’t you like? What do you find easy to store or what throws you for a loop whenever you need to find a place to put it or need to uncover it from under a pile of other stuff? You need to get a good handle on what your particular storage needs, and your specific storage style, is before going out and spending money on a new set of closet organizing systems for a new closet design.
So, once you decide what you like and don’t like about your existing closets, then you can start to consider how to change them. You should figure out if you prefer lots of hanging space, drawers, bins, racks, or other methods of storage. What works for one person may not work for another so think this through the way that makes you happiest – not the way someone tells you it should be done.
Then once you’ve decided how to move forward in a new direction with your closets, it’s time to go through all of your stuff and see what you can get rid of before you fill your closets again with lots of unused stuff.
